How to Make My Resume –

  1. Objective – Don’t Copy/Paste an Impressive Objective, Even-if you find a Free Resume Template with a most appealing Objective. Your Objective should be different from any other resume because you are different from other job-applicant. You are not next to Tom, Dick and Harry. Are You?
  2. Resume Summary – HR have just 30 seconds for one resume. Give him what he wants. Summarize your resume with all necessary details and skills. It will save HR time and your time as well.
  3. Be with Basics – Never forget the Basics, Your Resume Should start with your Name. And its should be in Bold. You can use Bigger font also. Second important thing is your contact details – these should be easy available. You can use them in header and footer also on every page.
  4. Eliminate “responsibility” related words – Dont add a lot of responsibilities in your cerriculam which you could not perform actually, You resume should be Achievement oriented, not responsibility oriented. Your Achievement help you to sell yourself not your responsibilities, even mentioning extra responsibilities (which you don’t perform regularly or you have a limited knowledge about them) can leave you in trouble during interview.
  5. Give your Resume the KEYWORD Power – Taday, Most of the organisations use Electronic Database. Finding the right candidates start by running a query (search) with Keyword. Make sure your resume have all the right keyword otherwise you would be disqualified before the race. These keywords are specific NOUN related to the job requirement. For Example – A Relationship Manager – Mutual fund must be having AMFI certified, so “AMFI” would be the keyword for him. Similarly Software tester who works on Automated tools like Win-runner, load runner. Must add these KEYWORDS to his resume.

Normally these keywords comes simantinously in resume, but if you find though to fit some of the keywords in your resume, add an heading KeyStrength in your resume and mention these keywords there.

Leave off Past Experience Details – If you have 15 plus of experience, then no need to add all the experience in details. Keep your last 3-4 years in details and past 10 years experience in brief because if you have not changed your line you have done the same in past. For example if you are now a Sales Head of an organisation and 10 years before you were sales officer. You would not had done other than Sales.

And if you have changed you line, then also you don’t need to mention your past in details. Doing this will give the HR more space to discuss your past and reason for changing the line.

Review your resume – Once you are finished with your resume, review it and if possible try to get review it by anyother experience person or professional.
